Crushing Iranian victory in the Iran-Iraq War

So in one of the most brutal and important wars of the late 20th century Iran and Iraq fought for 8 years. The war OTL had the Iraqis do well the first few years, then stalemate then the Iranians turned the tide and by 1988 the Iraqis were in a stronger position.

What if by 1988 the Iranians had decisively won the war, driven Saddam Hussein from power and spread the Islamist revolution to Iraq?

How would the US, Israel, and the other western powers, as well as the Soviet Union and gulf states react to this?

What would the geopolitical consequences be of a decisive Iranian victory?

The US and soviets wouldn't allow Iran to take Baghdad.

Agreed, the Iran-Iraq War was one of the few instances, maybe the only one, where the US and the Soviet Union supported the same side, i.e. Iraq. Neither of them wants Iraq to be overrun by the fanatical, zealotic Iranian regime. Expect either the US or the USSR to find some kind of excuse to intervene on Iraq's behalf. If they can't find one, rest assured that they'll assist the Arab world as they try to support Iraq.
