Crusader state in Finland

Is it likely (I'm rather sure it's not impossible at all) that instead of being conquered by Sweden Finland became German Crusader state similar to Livonia or Prussia under Sword Brothers and Teutonic Order? Say Sweden is weakened by civil war or even broke into two warring states, so is unable to conquer Finland. On the other hand Finnish tribes are raiding Swedish lands from time to time, and to solve that problem one of rulers call for Knightly Order to subdue pagans. German knights have arrived and gradually conquered Southern Finland estabilishing their own state, which some time later became land of northernmost branch of Teutonic Order. What do you think about such scenario?

Without Sweden is there enough wealth and people in Finland during the period to attract German interest? Until Swedish rule when large numbers of Swedish immigrated in the 12th and 13th centuries settlements were very sparse and small. German knights are going to find themselves ruling over small villages and a lot of forest. You'll need immigration from somewhere to increase the population. Perhaps people fleeing the turmoil in Sweden proper would do but I don't know if they'd be willing to accept German rule since they'd be the majority.

ATL Finnish Crusade may be delayed a bit compared to OTL, to late 13th century perhaps, say that knights are operating from previously conquered Livonia, not directly from Germany. Teutonic knights from Livonian branch tried to expand to Russian lands before battle of Peypus Lake, ATL they have easier option-North instead of East. Consolidation of Finnic tribes into state structure is unlikely-of people of Eastern Baltic shore only Lithuanians managed to do it by lucky chance. So sooner or later someone will conquer Finland, at least southern-Swedes were most likely conqerors, but I weakened them for purpose of TL, so only options left are:
-Novgorod
-Denmark
-Teutonic knights

The Danes did have a trading post/waypoint or two on the southern Finn shore to support the journey to Novgorod; thats definately a possible though they also or at least the Hvide-noble family had interests in Sweden.
They could prevent Swedish unification for some time postponing Swedish crusade into Finland making a window for the Sword Brothers or such. :)
