I am very tempted to add smoking to this one , given that I come from Ireland and we were the first country to introduce a complete ban on all indoor smoking work area including pubs and restaurants, something tht I support to the last and am very proud of! However in Irish retail units cigarettes are not allowed to be on open display, which is reminicessent of our previously laughable law on condoms (recently VAT reduced as they are considered so important in preventing unwanted pregnancies and STIs - Boy has Ireland changed from the sexually repressed redkneck backwater it was when I was growing up, not withstanding the impending introduction of The Swedish Model re prostitution criminalisation).
Certainly the sexual abuse of children was not given the level of seriousness it should have been, partly because it was not realised how serious, profound and long term the effects on the survivors were!
Drunk driving also!
