Create a Fictional President

This is a general thread for creating fictional Presidents -- people whose very birth and rise diverge from OTL. Ideally, I'm looking at rough TL's that kind of look like the ATL in the West Wing, where American history lead to a world much like our own, only where the political class is composed of people non-existent in OTL.*

(It's a little like how this turned out, where fictional biographies and Presidents are created; obviously none of the requirements in the linked OP apply here.)

Any ideas?

*(though I'd add that I'd like election years to be as OTL, instead of off by two)

Her concern for military families inspired her to win a seat on the Armed Services Committee. s She quickly won recognized for her knowledge of military affairs. In she won national attention as a leader of the opposition to the Iraq War. She enjoyed more credibility as her sons followed their father into the military. They both served in the Persian Gulf War, Bosnia Iraq and Afganistan. Her 2004 keynote speech at the Democratic Convention gave her a wide national profile. She launched her Presidential campaign in 2007. Aurore Marie Leandres de Pennsylvanie
President of the United States (2000-2008)

Born in Philadelphia to a poor French-American family that, when she was 10, won the lottery. This led to their elevation in status and living conditions, and gave the young Aurore, the family's only child at that time, a chance to get a good education. She learnt quickly and got a political scholarship. She joined the Democrat Party and rose in its ranks quickly, before attempting to get the Presidency from the Republican Danny Chance, in 1996, but failed. Luckily for her, Chance refused to run for another term because he thought that he served the country enough. His successor, Zachary Thomas, was quite lackluster and lost to the fiery and charismatic Aurore. In her first term, she passed a number of bills, the most significant being the Puerto Rico Statehood Act and the Freedom of the Internet Bill. She was very popular with the people, and decided to run another term. The lackluster Zachary Thomas had learnt some charisma by this election, but not enough, as he lost to the popular President. People assumed that Thomas would quit. He did not, as Aurore would find out as she left the White House for the last time in 2008. Zack Thomas rose to the Presidency, and ironically, became more popular then Aurore ever was. Aurore Marie Leandres de Pennsylvanie retired to a countryhome in Philadelphia. She died in 2052.

Walter Makki
(1946 - Present)
President of the United States (1988 -1996)

Walter Makki was born in the town of Ishpeming, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula to Eino and Helga Makki. An only child, Walter grew up in the iron mining town before joining the military in 1964 at the age of 18. He would serve three tours in Vietnam, being wounded twice and receiving the silver star, before returning to civilian life.
Upon his return to the United States, he attended the University of Michigan on the GI Bill, where he eventually received a degree in law. Makki then returned to Ishpeming, where he opened up his practice and quickly became one of the most sought after defence attornies in the state due to his charisma.
Makki eventually ran for the state state senate, and won handedly, and served three terms, during which he became the Senate Majority Leader. In 1980 he ran for Governor of Michigan, becoming the first governor of that state to hail from the Upper Peninsula.
Despite the economic troubles embroiling the state during the era, he became a popular governor, fondly remembered for his sharp wits and dry sense of humor. He was best known for his jobs initiative, which gave state funds to help develope small businesses and broaden the Michigan economy.
Entering into the 1988 Democratic primary of an under dog, he went on to beat the front runner, Rhode Island governor, Stark Merriweather. From there he narrowly defeated the sitting Vice-President, Vincent "Vince" Scott, in the general election.
Makki's presidency was best known for his opposition to NAFTA, plans to cut the federal debt, and attempting, but failing, to win passing of his Healthcare Plan. On the international stage, his biggest accomplishment was reaching out to the dissolving Soviet Union, helping that region work through the painful transition, and his successful invasion of Iraq, to prevent that nation fro annexing Kuwait.
Walter Makki was the nation's first president of Finnish-American background. He also spoke with a thick Upper Peninsula, or "Yooper", accent which was the souce of much of the humor directed at him during his presidency.

Julia Caroline Wallace
(February 21, 1923 - March 26, 1995)
Wallace was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Kenneth and Marcia Davis. Following the attacks on Pearl Harbor in 1941, at the age of 19, Wallace postponed going to college and joined the OSS as a secretary and analyst. She served until the end of the war, then attended Chicago University. Graduating in 1948, she moved her family to Indianapolis and became a tax attorney.

She became involved in politics after joining the campaign of James Ford for President, eventually becoming Deputy Agriculture Secretary following his victory. She later began serving as a member of the House of Representatives, among other positions. She ran unsuccessfully for president of the United States in 1984, but was chosen by party nominee George Kremplin to be the vice presidential nominee, but the two subsequently failed to be elected. She was re-elected to the Senate in 1986, and ran again for President in 1988, gaining the Democratic nomination and being elected over belaguered President David Shrapnel who was suffering from an economic crisis. Wallace was the first female President of the United States.
Upon being inaugurated in 1989, Wallace began several stimulus measures coupled with spending cuts to heal the economy. She also began the Back to Work America campaign aimed at slashing unemployment levels with community volunteer projects and time-share job programs. On the domestic policy front, Wallace brought in a form of part-universal healthcare though she was blocked for the full package by Republican opposition, in addition to this, she spearheaded energy reform and school vouchers, passing both through Congress although the vouchers program earned controversy from the Democrats. She was re-elected in a landslide in 1992 after the success of the Gulf War in 1991.

Her second term was marked by efforts to bring a successful Iraq-Kuwait peace deal and landmark civil rights legislation with regard to homosexuals. She also was damaged by the bankruptcy of Bluestar Airlines, the 3rd biggest airline in America following massive losses due to a collapse in airline stock due to the 1994 Airline Workers Strike, a dispute between the government and unions. She recovered from this and passed a bailout to hold the stock market steady. However, suddenly on March 25th 1995, President Wallace was taken into intensive care following a brain haemorrhage and died the following day, March 26th following complications from emergency surgery. She was succeeded as President by Vice President Michael Burton

Technically, you guys, presidents of the United States begin their term(s) of office in odd-numbered years, elections taking place in even-numbered years.

Daniel "Danny" Chance
President of the United States (1996-2000)
Born in Helena, Montana to normal parents. The parents died when he was 10, and he moved in with his sister, which abused him physically, mentally and sexually. When he was 18, he escaped across the border to Canada and lived there for 5 years. While there, he got a wife and a daughter. He was always kind to them. He moved the family back to Montana, this time to Billings, when his sister died. He took a interest in politics and managed to reach Senator by 1993. In 1994, a mass murderer killed his wife and left his daughter in a wheelchair. In 1996, when he was about to forget all dreams of a good life, someone entered it. A hobo called Jimmy Krakowitz. He was hired by Chance to look after the garden. Krakowitz's cheery attitude and low standards of living cheered Chance up enough. Krakowitz suggested that Chance run for the Presidency, and Chance agreed. The campaign, titled "The Austerity of Life." was a success and Chance was inaugurated as the President. He refused to run for another term, ceding heart troubles. This would take his life, in the snowy night of December 27th 2000... Many people attended his funeral, and commerated him in some way. Krakowitz became famous as the chief heir of Chance's will. He invested it wisely in a new corporation called Chance Incorporated. Chance's nickname in his Presidency was "Low Chance" because of his terrible luck.
