Here is some background for my question.
ITL verison of WW1: The Schlieffen Plan never happens. The four armies that were to swing through Belgium are on the Eastern Front in August 1914. Germany launches a fairly massive assault hitting Russia before she is fully mobilized taking large numbers of prisoners and equipment. Because of German victories, Russia is never able to launch their offensive into Galicia.
Back in the west, France launches Plan XVII and it turns out just as one would think; heavy losses for no gains. With Belgium being untouched, the British do not enter the war. The Home Rule Crisis of 1914 blows up in their face and will keep them busy for three to four years by my figuring.
After the German victories in Russia and the British staying out of the war, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, and the Ottoman Empire all join the CP side trying to get what they want out this war.
By the end of 1915, Russia folds. Germany gets a Brest-Litovsk like peace treaty. In turn they move all their troops back west. For 1915 France had another shitty year in the war repeating the mistakes of Plan XVII again, and again paying a heavy price.
In 1916 Germany launches a massive assault through Belgium, with their Italian allies launching their own offensive, through the later doesn't go anywhere as well. France folds after Paris falls in the summer of 1916.
In the peace Germany takes a number of French colonies, and they finish off Lorraine and get the ore fields at Briey. The Italians only get a few colonies. There are some minor changes on the German-Belgium border, and Germany annexes Luxembourg outright. The French do have to pay reps, but they are not back breaking.
That's the back story.
In 1940/41 time frame a new European War is sparked. France and Russia are both fighting the CP led alliance again. In a four year that sees America enter on the side of the CP after France starts unrestricted submarine war in the second year of the war, what would Germany take from France in this round?
