County-BAM

I have an announcement to make. I am restarting the County-BAM, this time I'm basing it off the 2015 county wall map from the Census Bureau website. The new County-BAM will be 80% larger, and will have cleaner and more accurate borders and coastlines.
I can't wait for this!

I kinda forgot about it until now, but I'll get back to it as soon as I'm done my 2016 election map.
I don't think there's any actual need here for a county map larger than the current County-bam. Instead, you might want to make a "simplified" version where every county has contiguous pixels, and can be filled with one click.

Congressional Districts map
Good job on the map. once the whole U.S. is done we could use it for election mapping. Others ideas for the map would be evolution of U.S. counties overtime and congressional districts.;)

Did somebody say "Congressional Districts"?!

I just finished this last night! I am SO glad I got this done in time for the midterms. I made this by rescaling and tracing the CD map on the US Census' website (https://www.census.gov/geo/maps-data/maps/cd115_us_wallmap.html) and a map from The Daily Kos for the smaller districts (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/...al-election-results-by-congressional-district) (This map is on a slightly different skew than the Census' map, so they may not be the most accurate).

Doing this map showed me two things. The first is just how densely and sparsely populated some areas of the country can really be; how much or how little space is needed to fill the 770,000 or so people required to make a district.

And the second...is how ridiculous the Gerrymandering can get. I mean, seriously! Just look at Maryland! It's a complete mess!

More the point, I hope you enjoy this little thing I've been working on. I've been working on it for a while and I'm overall really happy about how it turned out.

Wow. Great work! I've tried to do this in the past, but always struggled with the cities. This will be quite useful for some of the maps I have planned.

And remember that there is quite a bit of variation in the actual population figure per seat

And this is after two of the worst offenders (North Carolina and Florida) were forced to fix some of their more egregious drunken spiders by court order.

Mind you even the worst of 2010s gerrymandering will never get as blatantly awful as 1992:

I actually had to simplify the Texas city insets because the originals were virtually down to the level of going around individual houses!

Look at all those gerrymandered districts... Ugh...

Here's a minor update to the County-BAM, I fixed a few areas where I forgot to fill in the water, and I added the border between Currituck and Dare counties in North Carolina.

And here's a modified version with lighter county borders, which I think looks better.

Long Island is a complete disaster on this one

It would be great if this map includes also Canadian counties, since the projection is the same for the U.S. and we could have Alaska in his "real" size.

Canada doesn't have a consistent system of local government in quite the same way. Each province has its own system, and only some have anything consistent above local municipality level.
