Could Triumph Motor Company survive independantly?

Won’t let photos upload as too big.
Keep the STAG name for the Lynx 3.0L V8 2+2 and SPITFIRE name for 2.0L 2 seater.
Have the company survive as a specialist sports car company like Lotus etc. Then develop new variants as technology evolves.

Triumph lynx with Rover V8

I like it, but I doubt Rover will sell its V8 to an independent Triumph. They’re too close a competitor, unlike TVR and Morgan who bought the Rover engines.

True but BL told them to build it with the Rover V8, however as an independent the car was originally designed for their own 3.0V8. Bit of a pig, but know a couple of guys with restored Stags & with a bit of TLC says it’s better than Fords rival 3.0S.

With the right PODs an ATL Leyland-owned Triumph (ideally sans Rover in favor of Jaguar) with expanded links to Saab-Scania would not only feature a properly-developed version of the Stag V8 (which was capable of displacing around 2500-4000cc), but could have also evolved into something resembling the distantly related OTL 280+ hp 4-litre Saab V8 (potentially capable of a 4580cc+ displacement via a pair of 2.3-litre Saab H Slant-Four engines).

However the ATL TR7/TR8/Lynx would have not featured OTL Harris Mann styling (that originates from the mid-engined MG ADO21 prototype), rather the styling would have been done by Michelotti (see earlier Bullet/Lynx prototypes as well as Triumph TR7: The Untold Story by David Knowles).

The following is a Finnish language video on the Saab 9000 V8 prototype.
