Could there be AT with settlement/colonization of Antarctica?

Could any part of Antarctica be settled/colonized? I know it's really inhospitable, but maybe a few coastal whaling/fishing settlements?

When?

You could call a couple of the the bases there today settlements since they have year round residence: McMurdo, Amundsen-Scott, Halley, Vostock, and the Norwegian station with the charmingly monicker of Troll (the unofficial AH.Com research station) to name just a few. There are several children who have been born and are being raised on the Continent (mainly Argentine and Chilean).

As far as self sustaining colonies, that is close to, if not completely impossible, Even in deep summer the average night temperature at McMurdo is -5.5C (22 F) with -23C (-11F) being the spring average. That gives a growing seas of ZERO days. There are also several months where it is death on a stick to be outside for more than a few minutes. McMurdo is locared in the Banana Belt of Antartica. Vostock averaged -27C in HIGH SUMMER.

Without massive technological support Antarctica is off limits to humans and has been for at least 5 million years.
