Could Namibia remain German as a puppet state after the decolonization?

So, Namibia was a German Imperial Colony from 1884 to 1915, and something strange happened, because they stood there for "just" 31 years until the british conquered it and handed it to South Africa, but still got some influence from Germany even today

I remember reading somewhere that the south africans kept it as something similar to military occupation on the 1930s onwards since they believed that the german settlers could try to rebel against them even.

So, without romantizing Namibia german colonization (they comitted many massacres like the herero one), assuming that WWI doesn't happen and Germany eventually lose their colonies, could try hold in Namibia, or attempt to create a Namibierstaatz that is mostly independent but recognizes the current German Emperor as their leader similar to a british Dominium?
