Could Muslims have taken Italy?

Isn't Tours north of Poitiers? The famous battle which stopped the Arab army took place in Poitiers, not Tours.

The same battle is also referred to as Poitiers, it probably took place on a field in between the two cities. Regardless, it wasn't as important as Pippin the Short's reconquests of the Muslim conquered cities in France, which is what really kept them out of Europe and kept the Christian kingdoms of Spain from being extinguished.

I used Tours due to the fact that quite a few people know the battle by that name. I am quite aware that it is referred to as Poitiers and wanted to prevent confusion.

Not with some serous Pods they could raided it more though easy.

Ah but all of the Islamic conquests in the early period began as raids. That's why people who say tours wasn't important for Muslims are still wrong in the end, because if they had succeeded to taste, they'd come back to buy the rest of the scoop.

This is the general consensus I got from asking my professors, because I used to be in the "Tours was overrated!" Camp until two of my professors for two different courses literally claimed the opposite in lecture, and I life in a really liberal university that has no qualms adding new information to the course materials, sometimes in the middle of the course.
