I mean i read about the Plan to invade Britain ? How plausible was it ? Would it be able to succeed ?
What would it take to succeed ? what would be casaulity ratio ? I mean germans biggest strenghts were panzer divisions and i dont know how would they be able to transport it throught royal navy parked in the the Channel ? Gentlemen opinions ?

Please see the glossary of SeaLion threads at the top of the after1900 discussion board. It will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about what would have happened.

The consensus of the Forum is that the Sea Lion plan was a very bad joke and there is no way with a POD after the Fall of France that such an invasion would succeed. Launching it would be very costly for the Germans, both militarily and economically - large river barges essential for the German internal transport system were to be used and a lot would have been lost.

No, it's simply that if you take the history as happened until the Fall of France, the Germans have inadequate forces to launch a successful invasion. Their navy is too weak to keep the Royal Navy preventing follow up waves from landing and cutting off the initial landing force while the RAF can deny control of the sky to the Luftwaffe. So the invasion will fail, at high cost to the Germans and a significant cost to the British. But psychologically a major defeat for Germany, even more than the Battle of Brotain by itself.

So the the closest we can come to german success is germans succesfully pulling evacuation ?

As USSManhattan said, the best German move is simply DON'T.

At least that is the overwhelming consensus and viewed as a military exercise I'm 100% sure it's right. I do have a slight itch as regards a "What IF" the Germans managed to throw a small airborne force onto a few airfields just after Dunkirk, even before the Fall of France. Could the resulting panic have bluffed the UK into seeking peace? With Churchill in charge, probably not. But could it have provoked a coup by the Peace Faction in the Tories? Maybe, but luckily we'll never know!!

:)

Less snarky, your biggest problem is the POD is too close to the event you want.

The more you want Hitler taking the salute in Trafalgar Square or from Buckingham Palace, the further back you have to go. And the further back you have to go, the more Britain will respond to German actions, which means the more Germany needs to change, which means you have likely butterflied both the Second World War and Adolf Hitler, at least as we know them, out of existence.

Sealion is back!
I think it's a rite of passage for anyone interested in AH. It's one of the superficially great "What Ifs" that you have to try to make work. Like Napoleon winning at Waterloo, the Spanish Armada succeeding or Hannibal beating Rome.

You can see where my tentative thoughts are in my previous post.

so the implausibility goes like Napoleon,Hannibal,Sealion ? as in each is the harder than previous thing ?

We need to go deeper

Not really, I wasn't thinking of a sequence of implausibility. (Actually both the Armada and Napoleon succeeding aren't that implausible.) Just that each was a pivotal event in western history so makes for a good "what IF".

Quite. Don't worry. No one's faulting you for asking. After all, no one knows about the supreme fallibility of Sealion until an expert enlightens them. Personally, I blame mainstream popular culture for spamming Axis victory scenarios for no other reason than to use the most hideous, objectively evil factions history will ever know of for grimderp stories. :3

Genghis, if you're curious about a successful Sealion and the Britain that would have formed under occupation, I recommend the book If Britain Had Fallen. It goes some depth into both, with the POD of wiping the RAF out instead of switching to bombing cities. There is a mention of the RN being prevented from participating, but I forget the exact reason (it seemed handwavium IIRC). I read it in college, so it might not be as good as I remember, but I liked it well enough.
