Could Fascist Italy survive if it switched sides

After the axis lost north Africa, Could Mussolini or Some other fascist leader switch sides .

Would this allow Fascism to survive in Italy post-war

What would be the impact on Italy's territorial losses and the world war 2

Fascism in Italy has better odds of survival if Italy stays out of the war, or does not actually enter fight at all until the Nazis are clearly losing.

Well, thats pretty much what happened. When Tunisia was lost the senior leaders, who also comprised the Facist Grand Council, faced up to the idea that Mussolini had to go and Italy needed to reach a peace with the Allies. It was a few more months before they congealed this idea into action. the loss of Sicilly rather forced them along the path. There are some PoD that might get the Grand Council to this point earlier. Mussolini becoming ill & incapacitated could force their hand months earlier.

If Italy stays out of WWII fascism could remain in power in a way that Franco did in Spain - the Allies needed them in the alliance against the Soviet Union. It's possible that Italian Fascism could be seen as preferable to Soviet-style Communism and be propped up against leftist agitation and interference.

Pretty much this happened in OTL. Great Council of Fascists decided that Mussolini had leave and king fired him. And then Italy was practically in civil war and Fascists didn't survive.

Much better chances them have if Italy remain neutral. And even then probably just so long when Mussolini is alive.

yes, but by then fascism had lost much of his support among the italian population, too much humiliation, too much sofference, too much incompetence;the only way the regime can survive is not entering the war or enter in the end at the allied side.

If Mussolini stayed neutral, took the Thailand route in the meantime (pretends to be on Nazi Germany's side but actually feeds intel to and gives secret support to the Allies), and joined in after D-Day, Fascist Italy might last a long, long time.

The Allied invasion may not even come through Normandy....
