Could Enron have enabled the prevention of banking crisis?

Suppose that the enron outrages caused greater attention.
Probably, just get rid of the other big news story of September 2001 that drowned Enron out almost completely

Absent that it is really hard to get Enron much more attention, unless it happened months earlier or months later (IE meltdown starts sometime around late spring/summer 2002), but it can't be too much later or it still gets drowned out

The businesses I've worked at since Enron took the anti-fraud measures of the Sarbannes-Oxley regulations to heart - it rattled their administrative chains severely. Still, I do think there was an element of chiselling operators, especially in the banking business using that focus on anti-fraud as misdirection to cover their other activities...
