Could a semi-constitutional monarchy survive in Europa till present day ?

With semi-constitutional monarchy i mean a monarchy similar to the one in Liechtenstein, because in the other european monarchies, the monarch has no real politcal power... In Liechtenstein however the monarch does have influence in politics.

Now my question is what if the Habsburgs would still reign over Austria (CP Victory) would it be possible that Austria has a semi-constitutional monarchy like in Liechtenstein ?

How about a country in Europe with oil, so the monarch does not need to tax his people and therefore make them demand democracy?

Franco dies before 1945, a military Junta replaces him by Don Juan de Borbón, who restores a limited democracy where socialist and communist parties are still banned.

i doubt a monarch is more expensive than a president, not to mention that even the inactive presidents get paid for life... Also i think a monarch brings some touristic income aswell.
Also a monarch is nonpartisan

I meant for a regular country, not for a Microstate though.

Would people in a bigger country perhaps revolt if their monarch has "too much power" in the politics ??

How long could this last though? Even after the Spanish economic "miracle" of the 60s there was growing unrest on the left (illegal million-man strike in 1968) and if they remained banned this would just continue and escalate.

An autocratic government would also legitimize ETA.

But would a monarchy like in Liechtenstein (where the monarch does still have political power) possible in a country like Austria ? Or would people most likley revolt and demand a parlamentarial monarchy ?

No it is possible if there is a system with checks and balances perhaps an elected monarch from a small group of familly who are trained in the arts of diplomacy and politics but is above them in a sort of disinterested way.
It may be that the 'common' people would feel more empathy and respect for a monarchas a unifying idea than the political class.
History is full of such examples and perhaps a brake on the politicians may not be such a bad idea.

If World War II somehow either gets avoided or altered in a way that keeps the balkans out of it, I could see at least one of Romania, Yugoslavia, and Bulgaria maintaining a semi-constitutional monarchy. Europe need not mean Western Europe.
