I'm not particularly concerned with the how; if you want to feel free to write up a scenario to make the Mongols push into Germany and France. What I want to explore is whether such an invasion could prompt a stream of refugees to the Crusader States, and whether that could be enough to save them from being pushed into the sea by Ayyubids. One of the major problems the Crusader States faced in ruling their realms was governing the non-Christian populations. In this scenario, the flood of refugees could displace the Arabs and others; perhaps the influx of manpower might embolden those counts to reclaim lands lost to Saladin a half-century before?
