Could a Mongol Invasion of Western Europe save the Crusader States?

I had the Italian Wars in mind, when everyone ganged up on France to stop their expansion. But perhaps I am to optimistic.

The Mongols aren't France, and the invasion happening when it does is not the era of the Italian Wars.

A fair point. But a lot of weird things happen in history. I'm tinkering at the moment with a narrative driven "timeline"; in the end, all I want is a good story.

This is well past weird, however. If the Mongols invade Europe and wreck the place, there won't be a Crusade and the Crusader states die anyway. If they invade and fail, they've much more problems to deal with than the Crusader states while Europe will be looking north warily for a while.

One only need point to the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth and their response to the Golden Horde in OTL to find that when Europe was threatened by the Mongols, not only did the larger forces resist they fought back.

And invariably got shitcanned for all their pains. Which means if the Mongols go deeper into Europe, they'll rampage through as an unstoppable force. There'd be no loot to be had so there'd not be any prolonged Khanate in Europe, but the Mongols would be to that century what the Vikings had been to the century before them, and the Goths, Huns, and Vandals before the Vikings.

England and Spain seem more natural. The British Isles might get a whole lot more populated. Or the Reconquista of Iberia could happen earlier out of necessity. Maybe even some people heading north to Scandinavia.
Spain, France, really anything east of the Rhine will be a haven.

I had the exact same idea of mass flight to Britain, which could weaken the Normanism in English culture.

Scandinavia I have a hard time seeing; not the most hospitable climate for refugees.
