What would the impact be if the Cotton Gin had been invented earlier, let's say during the French and Indian War?
 
Slavery becomes even more deeply entrenched, as it becomes highly monetized decades earlier than OTL and does not go through a period of being only marginally profitable and looking like it's about to die out.

Which would mess with the formation of the Constitution. You might get a successful Hartford Convention or a later 'go in peace, wayward brothers' secession before OTL's in 1860 that doesn't lead to Civil War.

So you could get a *CSA formed without the devastation of war or a massive debt.

However, the problems of plantation slavery are still going to mess with it in the long run-less immigration, little to no industrialization, and slave uprisings.
 
If slavery were more deeply entrenched, do you think that would cause the Southern colonies to be even more favorable towards Britain during the Revolution (if one were still to happen)?
