Basically what Tomb said. I don't think the fact they had bronze would make any difference, but they were the second greatest power in the region, so it seems likely that they could take advantage of the new situation.

Or maybe they would be weakened by the diseases enough that they fall as well...

The Tarascans apaprently had a strong series of fort systems along their borders, it is possible that they could enforce a successful or at least partially successful quaratine?

Tomb's TL had the French establishing one or two trade outposts but nothing else beyond that.

I think at this time the biggest concern for the Americas with the Europeans was finding that route to Asia, the area only really concerned those Conquistadors in Cuba who had made a stake in putting all their money into plantations and finding gold to make their fortunes. To the European powers at home, European concerns and wars were more attention grabbing and it was only when gold was discovered in vast amounts in the New World did Spain and such powers have vested interests in the area.
