Copperhead country during ACW

Is there any way that the Copperheads in the old NW- under Clement Valladingham have seceded to form their own pro-Confederate country ?

With proper planning and for a few months, probably. I don't see that the CSA can support them, though, so in the long run it's a foregone conclusion. Might make a good legend, though. Faire Camerone!

Vallandigham had no support. He lost the election to be Governer of Ohio by a landslide. His Pro-Union War Democrat opponant John Brough won by more than 100,000 votes and completed the single most complete electorial victory in American History. Without a comeplete change to realaity there is no way Vallandigham could ever oversee the creation of a Mid-Western Copperhead Country.

Not by political means, I'd say. But a dedicated population could probably turn a part of the country into a no-go zone for federal authorities. Not that it would be a good idea, but early in the war, it'd just be another damn distraction.

Yes, Vallandigham lost by a landslide, but what criteria are you using when you say that Brough's victory was the single most complete electoral victory in American history?
