Nov. 22, 1963 - John F. Kennedy narrowly avoids being assassinated when a shot is fired during a motorcade. Fortunately the bulletproof bubbletop was in place, which shielded the President from a potentially fatal bullet. Lee Harvey Oswald, a former defector to the Soviet Union is captured. The Soviet Union denies any connection to Oswald.

Dec. 1963 - Lee Harvey Oswald is put on trial for the attempted assassination of President Kennedy. He claims he did so because JFK was a "Warmonger", and "A treat to world peace."

Jan. 1964 - Oswald is convicted of the attempted assassination of President Kennedy, and the murder of Dallas Police Officer Jefferson Davis Tippett. He is scheduled for execution with a month. Oswald becomes the cause celeb for many left wing anti-war groups.

Feb. 1964 - Oswald executed. Kennedy refusal to commute Oswald's sentence to life in prison makes many left wing groups to turn against JFK. The Soviet Union steps up it's efforts to remove the anti-communist and effective Kennedy from office.

June 1964 - The Bobby Baker scandal becomes public, and involves Vice President Lyndon Johnson.

July 1964 - Nelson Rockefeller wins the Republican Presidential Nomination. Barry Goldwater chosen as Vice President.

Aug. 1964 - John F. Kennedy renominated for President. Lyndon Johnson is replaced with Hubert Humphrey for Vice President on the ticket.

Nov. 1964 - Nelson Rockefeller defeats John F. Kennedy after he wins the same states Nixon did in 1960, plus Texas and New York.

Jan. 1965 - Nelson Rockefeller sworn in as the 36th President of the United States.

1965-1968 - President Rockefeller ignores the advise of many and continues to build up the U.S.Nuclear Forces in the face of an attempt by the Soviet Union to achieve superiority. The Strategic Air Command's plan for massive retaliation in case of nuclear attack remains in place. The U.S. begins constructing a nationwide Anti-Ballistic Missile system. U.S. advisers only are sent to South Vietnam, and a stable authoritarian government comes into place. An expansion of the 1955 Voting Rights act is opposed by Southern Democrats leading to Republican gains in the 1966 mid terms. President Rockefeller expands the Kennedy tax cuts, and the U.S. economy expands. Israel wins the Six Day War.

1968 - The Soviet Union invades Czechoslovakia. President Rockefeller rules out direct intervention, but a Czech "Government in Exile is formed. Former President John F. Kennedy, and former Vice President Lyndon Johnson both vie for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. Kennedy wins the California Primary and is poised to win the nomination when he is assassinated in Los Angeles by Sirhan Sirhan. Johnson receives the nomination almost by default, and reluctantly choses Senator Robert Kennedy as his running mate. The Democratic Party is fractured over the Voting Rights Act, and Rockefeller wins an easily victory in November.

1969 - Sirhan Sirhan is tried for the assassination of former President Kennedy. His lawyers are the same ones who represented Lee Harvey Oswald, and they make the claim that their client believed Kennedy was a "warmonger" and "pro-Israeli".
President Rockefeller, with the support of Democrats led by Senator Robert Kennedy, make a formal military alliance with Israel. Hardcore Leftist begin promoting the Palestinian cause, and forcing Israel to the 1948 borders. Yassir Arafat posters begin showing up on American College Campuses.
A Staffer working for Senator Ted Kennedy is arrested for reckless driving resulting in the death of a young woman. Senator Kennedy professes shock, while the Staffer denies any wrong doing. After the assassination of his brother there is no further investigation of allegations that Senator Kennedy was actually driving the vehicle.

1970 - President Rockefeller increase U.S. forces in Europe, South Korea, and Japan. The U.S.S. Nimitz is completed (the labor problems that delayed completion in OTL did not take place). The Modernization of the U.S. military forces takes place with new anti-tank missiles being supplied to Infantry/Marine units. The Soviet Union makes a military alliance with Egypt. Unofficial "Governments in Exile" are created for the rest of the Warsaw Pact.

1971 - President Rockefeller meets with the heads of the Warsaw Pact "Governments in Exile". The Soviet Union accuses the U.S. of interfering with the stability of Eastern Europe. Vice President Goldwater makes the Administration position clear by publicly saying "Of course we are."

1972 - The Soviet Union opens negotiations with the People's Republic of China for an Anti-U.S. military alliance. U.S. forces are stationed on Taiwan, and South Vietnam. Senator Robert F. Kennedy wins the Democratic Nomination for President, and choses Senator Henry "Scoop" Jackson as Vice President. OPEC raises oil prices, causing a mild recession. Vice President Barry Goldwater wins the Republican Nomination, and instead of choosing popular California Governor Ronald Reagan as expected he picks Illinois Senator Charles Percy in a bid to win the support of moderate voters and to "balance the ticket". A poor debate performance leads to a large Kennedy lead, and while Goldwater forces rallies by election day it's not enough to prevent RFK from being elected President.

Jan. 1973 - President Kennedy takes office.

June 1973 - President Kennedy meets with Soviet Leader Leonid Brezhnev in Stockholm, Sweden. No agreement is reached.

July 1973 - The Soviet Union makes a military alliance with Syria, as they had with Egypt. President Kennedy reaffirms the U.S.-Israeli Defense Alliance.

Aug. 1973 - Brezhnev meets with Mao in Beijing. Sino-Soviet relations improve.

Sept. 1973 - President Kennedy meets with the leaders of the Warsaw Pact Governments in Exile.

Oct. 6, 1973 - Egypt and Syria launch a coordinated invasion of Israel. U.S. supplied anti-tank guided missiles take a heavy toll on Arab tanks.

Oct. 8, 1973 - Israel launches it's counter offensive on both fronts.

Oct. 15, 1973 - The Egyptian 3rd Army is destroyed at the Battle of the Chinese Farm. Israel forces has pushed the Syrian Army to the gates of Damascus.

Oct. 16, 1973 - Soviet Airborne forces arrive in both Egypt and Syria. The Soviet Black Sea fleet sails toward the Dardanelles.

Oct. 17, 1973 - President Kennedy orders U.S. Marines to Israel. The U.S. Sixth Fleet moves to intercept the Soviet Black Sea Fleet. Turkey closes the Dardanelles.

Oct. 18, 1973 - Soviet forces engage the Israelis. Soviet Airborne forces seize the Dardanelles, and Red Army units from Bulgaria invade Turkey. NATO goes on full alert. President Kennedy demands the Soviet's withdraw from Turkey. The U.S. 82nd Airborne is sent to Israel.

Oct. 19, 1973 - Soviet Forces in East Germany and Czechoslovakia cross the border and invade West Germany.
