Just had an idea based on how, at Ft Lawton, Washington in Aug 1944, black soldiers stationed there rioted against Italin POWs & lynched 1, due to resentment at the preferential treatment of the latter at their own expense under Jim Crow. Of course, in the Deep South, there were untold instances where, due to Jim Crow, German POWs sent there were allowed free run to eat at whites-only diners, cafes & use other such institutions which black servicemen were forbidden to, in their own country- sometimes even when black soldiers were guarding said POWs. Now, WI in response to their genuine racial grievances, more such violent disturbances occurred at posts around CONUS conducted by irate black soldiers against Axis POWs, with esp German prisoners being singled out & mistreated ? How would the progress of racial integration have been affected, & what about the War Dept's response ? Would the US have done its damnedest to hush up news of such racial incidents arising from its own entrenched system of inequality ? how would the Nazis have used such attacks on German POWs as propaganda, & would there have been reprisals against US POWs- esp blacks (there were some 33 Tuskegee airmen eventually shot down & held as POWs by the Germans, for starters)- held in LUFTSTALAGs ?
