Constantinople wasn't Sacked in 1204 by Latin Crusaders

Okay so what would happen? Here is my knowledge of the effects of the 1204 Sack:

-The final break between the Roman Catholic Church and Orthodox Church took place because of this.

-The Byzantines would never recover from 1204.

Here's what I don't know:

-The state of the Empire on the eve of the sacking. A map of the Empire on the Eve of Constantinople's Sacking would be helpful.

The search function is your friend. (Though it isn't mine.) Is it not working for you right now?

Why does everyone need to get on the new peoples' cases about things like this? Perhaps the original poster would prefer to discuss the possibilities of there not being a Sack and Sacrilege for a work of his own instead of mindlessly copying others peoples' work?

Doesn't mean that he shouldn't read the past threads to see what has been said in answer to his questions.

No use spending pages discussing how Trebizond would have broken off anyway each and every time someone wants to write a 1204 POD scenario.

http://www.ict.griffith.edu.au/wiseman/Roman/5CompMaps.html The last map looks like what he needs.

The problem here is constant strife and civil wars between claimants of the purple weakened the Empire when it should have stayed united.

If we remove somehow Alexios IV and his pleas for restoration (or Alexios III is somehow eliminated and doesnt usurp the crown) then the Crusaders wouldnt have an excuse to attack the city... Although i am somehow sure that Dandolo (who held a grudge towards the Byzantines) would fabricate something...
