Constantinople was a large city, well defended with a large garrison, and with monstrous walls. The very act of taking the city takes more than what the enemies of the Roman Empire could muster on their own for the majority of its history. My question is, not how the city could be conquered by the Persian, but what role would the city play in the empire if it along with anatolia was digested as part of the Sassanid Empire?
