Conspiracy of Spain against Venice, 1618

In 1616 Venice had concluded an alliance with France, Switzerland, and the Netherlands against the Habsburgs. So the Spanish ambassador in Venice, the Marquis de Bedmar, started a conspiracy to prepare a naval invasion of the city. The French saved Venice by uncovering the conspiracy though, and the marquis had to leave Venice.

But what if the conspiracy and subsequently the invasion had succeeded? The power balance in Italy would have been destroyed in favor of the Habsburgs. What does this mean for the Thirty-Year War?

It actually means very little with regards to the Thirty Years War at least in the initial stages. What it would affect would be Spanish assistance to the Imperialists which didn't really pick up until the fighting moved from Bohemia to the Palatinate. Spanish involvement in the beginning of the Thirty Years War was basically focused on two things: 1) securing the territories along the Spanish Road to move troops to the Netherlands and 2) securing Imperial intervention against the Dutch. They more or less stuck to subsidies for Austria outside of those two things.
