I'm considering writing an idea on a Sikh Empire/Confederacy which would manage to survive the Wars with the UK with its independence intact (or at least remains independent longer than 1849, even if it means it will eventually become a part of the Raj later down the road) and I have a PoD being in 1839 where after Ranjit Singh dies the Sikh Empire remains stable with a new successor, his gradson son Nau Nihal (who died OTL from a presumed assassination attempt).
Would it be possible, had Nau lived that he could've kept the Empire stable and steady (and even then, it's probably a wank at best), or would it just be ASB all over the place?
