Does anyone remember that bad movie, Wild Wild West? The one with Will Smith?

Well, in the movie, the Villain, Dr. Loveless, has this plan to take over the USA with a giant, mechanized spider, and divide the USA between Himself and other countries.

    • Britain regains the original Thirteen Colonies, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio.
    • Spain gains Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi
    • France gains Louisiana, Arkansas, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri
    • Mexico regains Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Oklahoma.
    • Dr. Loveless gains what's left, called Lovelessland
Now this may sound utterly ridiculous from a bad movie, but what if Loveless did succeed in overthrowing the US government, and the countries in the deal, for some ASB reasons, accept his offer of Former American territory

What would be some implications and consequences of something like this ever happened?

In a word what you are going to have is total chaos.

First, Americans will forever after look at Ulysses S. Grant as "Traitor" Grant. His name will be the most reviled in American history next to Benedict Arnold AND Migolito Loveless.

Secondly, Americans are not going to tolerate foreign occupation of their homeland. The British, the French, the Mexicans, the Spanish, and Loveless will all find themselves fighting guerrilla uprisings and terror attacks. Loveless is going to have to watch his back 24/7. A movement to reunite America will likely take place that will reach across the new borders. The message to the occupying powers will be simple. We won't stop until you leave. This will lead to reprisals and counter-reprisals. And it will also lead to accusations between the occupying powers that one of them is either supporting or turning a blind eye to cross-border harassment. Likely you have a World War start within a decade of the division.

Loveless may or may not have made preparations for his successor. Regardless once he dies either naturally or otherwise what law and order exists in his zone will collapse. It is likely guerrilla groups will use the former Loveless zone to stage attacks on the different powers occupying America.

How long it will be before the various powers decide reoccupying American is a real bad idea and withdraw remains to be seen.

In the end what you have is a reunited United States that is more isolationist then ever.

I believe he was also planning on giving Manhattan back to the native tribe who had sold it.
