Consequences of Christian Persia

Here's an idea: could Persia end up Christian through an Armenian king who can potentially inherit the Persian throne should some dynastic crisis happen? Though Armenia itself might be affected by the larger Persian population, Armenian Christian influence can seep into Persian culture.

I don't see how that would be possible. It's like a Muslim inheriting the Byzantine throne during a dynastic crisis. In theory, according to inheritance laws, he could or should be emperor. In reality...dude...the population will never accept him and he won't have any support. The Armenians were a fixed, grounded population and I doubt they could take over a land of any sizable area; we're not talking about Normans here, after all.

Not sure what that has to do with the capacity of a kingdom to expand, but Tigranes would disagree with you. The lack of longevity for Tigranes' empire not withstanding.

I'd say you pretty much need to butterfly out the Roman-Sasanian War of 602-628. This would essentially leave both Sasanid Persia and the ERE on much stronger footing to combat the Arab incursions of the seventh century. This pretty much opens up the door for possible conversions to Nestorianism (Church of the East) or Miaphysitism (Armenian Apostolic Church). I would also not technically rule out the possibility of the Persians adopting the Chalcedonian definition of Christianity (Diaphysitism or the pre-1054 definition of Catholicism for lack of a better term). A Miaphysite Persia could open up the possibility of interesting holy wars with the ERE.
