Congo becomes a independent but European ruled country.

Congo is made into a neutral country in the middle of Africa instead of being given to Belgium. It is ruled by a European minority government and assimilated Africans as middle men. All European powers are given special privileges and rights within the country. Britain can move troops through it and build a Cape to Cario railway through it. Germany and France can also move troops through it and invest in it. Basically, all the European powers could invest in it, send people there, and have military bases in it. Maybe, they even give it a European monarch.

Thoughts?

The Congo wasn't given to Belgium, it was bought by a Belgian king who established the Congo Free State, but Belgium stepped in to take control of the reigns. Its more complicated that but still.

I know, I didn't know how to exactly word this. Basically the Europeans powers step in and keep the Congo Free State around but under new leadership as a solution to the Congo crisis.

That's weird, but could actually work. The Brits get what they want, the Portuguese get transport between their colonies in kind of a pink map-ish way, etc.

This could end up weird. Good, or bad
