Is there any way to convert European or Latin American-styled Catholic fascism into a uniquely Chinese sort?
It would indeed look a lot like fascism, but I think there's one element of fascism that doesn't sit well either with Legalism or Confucianism, and it's the overt glorification of violence. Violence is of course a tool of all dictatorships, but fascism went further in that it openly reveled in it. Paradoxically--or not--the Chinese ideology that adopted that specific trapping of fascism was Maoism. The Red Guards were just Black Shirts or SAs with different uniforms.Wait. Wouldn't a modern Legalist movement/ideology be fascism? Come to think of it I have heard of the PRC described as a neo-Legalist. Legalism is by no means Confucianism, but as with Chinese religions, Chinese philosophies of state have a lot of overlap.
