Confessions of a First Time Voter.
Democrats and School.

The Democrats are trying to drown out Senator Smith. One would think that someone with her views would be welcomed in the modern Democratic party but it certainly seem like she isn't. It's almost as if the party establishment don't want to talk about her ideas. According to my dad, it's because of McGovern. Since he barely won in '72 and '76, they figure he must have done something wrong.
I find this hard to believe as McGovern did win those elections. It was when the Democrats tried to go to the right that they lost. Kennedy in '80; Glenn in '84; Biden in '92; Schroeder in '96; Booker in '08; Rodham in '12. Now those same people are telling us that we have to go right to win this time? I don't think so. Sure going right works sometimes but leave that to the Republicans. That's what their good at. My fear is that if the Democrats go in a similar direction who's going to represent the opinions of the vast majority of Americans?
Isn't that how elections shouldn't be run? Politicians have to be answerable to the people. Haven't they? Still I think we should pivot to the left. That's why I'm going to be working for the Smith campaign in Florida. Or at the very least I'm volunteering. I'm going to be doing as much as I can for the campaign, between school and friends and this blog of course.
So updates will be more sporadic once school starts next month. I will try to update as often as I can though. Although I make no promises. I'm going to be incommunicado for a little while. I'm going to be going on vacation, so I'll see you in about a week.
