that's still a hit to the funding of the Paulista Republican Party, they only had 2 federal deputies(both would become presidents later), if only the army, which was not united against the monarchy but rather divided betwen positivist new cadres and the stablish "old guard"/"tarimbeiros", i do wonder how Rio Grande do Sul would develop without the republic though given the struggles betwen Castilhistas(paternalists and republicans) and Gasparistas(liberals and pro-federalization).
Deodoro(the representant of the old guard in the alliance) only joined the coup out of personal feelings(the emperor had punished him for making political statements in newspapers, which was illegal for someone in the army) and still only embraced republicanism becuse he was told the emperor(who hadn't heard of the affair) had appointed Gaspar Silveira Martins as the new PM(originally the coup was to oust PM Ouro Preto), who Deodoro hated for stealing his year some 4 or so decades prior.
