Confederate Domincian Republic?

In a TL where the CSA survives, the CSA offers to take Domincian Republic after the US Senate fails to approve it, would they accept and would it be plausible?

I highly doubt it. The Confederacy wouldn't have the motivation to buy it, and besides Buenaventura Baez, no one in the Dominican Republic supported the plan.

A CSA offer to take on the Dominican Republic would be implausible - not so close to the end of the Restoration War and when the Dominican Republic is reasserting its sovereignty. A certain man excepted, no one in the DR was willing to put their country under the sovereignty of another yet again, not after the recent experiences with Spain and Haiti. So no, the DR would not accept, nor would the Confederate Congress.

The Dominican Restoration war was, in part, the result of fears that the Spanish wanted to reimpose slavery. So why then does the Dominican Republic join a state which has a constitutional mandate for the legalization of slavery in all its constituents?

Yes, a large population of free people of African descent is exactly what the Confederacy wants, and being annexed by a slaveholding republic is exactly what the Dominicans want! :p
