communists fled to taiwan

so, instead of the nationalists being defeated in the Chinese civil war, the communists are, and flee to Taiwan.....
what would the USSR do without its sometimes friendly bulwark against capitalism? How would the World look today?

It's far more easier to get Red Manchuria than Red Taiwan:p

yea a few problems here such as the fact that Taiwan doesn't support the communists at all and the soviets have no influence there so it wouldn't exactly be fleeing to it so much as amphibiously assaulting it and the communists did not exactly have a navy to support an evacuation but the nationalists did whihc could destroy any attempts to evacuate. Also if the communists are about to be crushed why not flee across into the Soviet Union knowing no chance of being followed and attacked

Short answer: it's impossible.

Long answer: the Communists' stronghold was in Manchuria, and their offensive was from north to south, meaning the southern provinces, including the coastal regions closest to Taiwan, were among the last ones to be lost by the Nationalists (as for the island of Hainan, it held out until 1950). Furthermore the Communists had no navy to speak of. So, it's impossible.

As for islands, Hainan seems more likely. Close to fellow North Vietnamese... Anyway, the communist redoubts would be certainloy Manchuria/Liaodong, Shaanxi/Gansu/Inner Mongolia, Eastern Turkestan. Wherever, in short, Stalin's brutal hand could arrive.
