Communist Revolution in Italy

With a PoD after 1914 but in which Italy still joins the Entente and the Entente is victorious, could there be a Communist revolution in Italy sometime between 1917 and 1930?

Can a communist revolution happen in Italy? Sure, can be succesfull without the red army occupy the nation and helping? No way, too weak, too divided and the armed forces too loyal to the king for that

Sure.

Now, in terms of human well-being, best if it’s largely successful, like Cuba or Yugoslavia.

However . . . that makes for boring Alternate History. So, for our purposes, best if it’s a mixed bag, both succeeding and failing in various interesting and unexpected ways. And like any good fiction, premise introduced within first 5% of story, and the rest is one or two main personalities revealing themselves within this world.

For screenplays: Someone wants something badly and has a hard time getting it (for character growth, what they want can somewhat change and modify, although this is not strictly necessary)

Categorically no? I mean, the Biennio Rosso arguably comes close to qualifying by itself.

Naa, they really never had a real chance to overthrow the goverment, as said they were too weak and divided and the army will have not defected in mass in their favor; plus there were enough anti-communist and protofascist to counter them. Cause immense damage and political chaos? Absolutely yes, but not to gain power

The OP does not specify a successful revolution - just a level of disturbance significant enough to qualify as a revolution.

Which kind of communism is it? Is it a Stalinist-type communism, or is it its own independent Italian communism?

Is it really impossible for Communists to take power? What if there was right-wing infighting? Maybe Mussolini was killed in World War 1 and Gabriele D'Annunzio ends up leading the fascists. He is unable to get the support of Italo Balbo and when he tries the March on Rome or something similar the King has the army fight him because he is seen as more revolutionary than Mussolini. The monarchists win, but are weakened enough that the Communists can succeed.

By the time of the march of Rome the revolutionary spirit of the workers is already gone, sure protest strike and manifestation for the work condition will still happen but the revolution is out of question and frankly getting rid of the fascist if they try to take power with the force will make the PCI think two or three time before doing it.

You need one or more deep PoD early. Perhaps much more incompetent governments as with Russia.

With a unsuccessful revolt the anticommunist/socialist factions are liable to be more active into the 1940s & beyond.

This may butterfly away Mussolini & the imperial ambitions that estranged Italy from Britain and France may not become a problem.
