Communist Japan

Would it e possible for there to be a Communist Japan, preferably if the movement happens before WWI and maybe a sort of revolution occurs during or after the War.

Well, the most plausible way that Japan could become Communist is in World War Two. The USA does not bomb Hiroshima and/or Nagasaki, and decides to invade. The USSR, following up on it's promise made during The Yalta Conference, invades from the north. We end up with a similar situation like in Germany. Communist North, Democratic South. Also Tokyo would be devided into North and South like Berlin was east and west. However unlike Berlin, the communist half of the city would be surounded by the democratic nation.

I have an even better way.

One of the emperors reads Karl Marx and/or many of Lenin's speeches and ideas. Through reading he realizes that Communism is an excellent idea and rejects the sovereignty of a monarchy. Since he himself is a monarch, the emperor decides to use that to his advantage. Over the next ten years, the emperor will appoint "lefter: and "lefter" cabinet ministers to ease the transition. After 10-15 years he appoints communists to the cabinet. Obviously many many people will oppose what the emperor is doing, but due to their viewing him as a living god, they wont do much. Some will attempt a coup d'état, but the emperor's strong guard and a bit of luck will prevent that.

That would be interesting, but would it have been plausible? I'll leave that as a question mark.
