Communist India + Paskistan = Indus Socialist Union

Is there a senario to create a socialist or communist India/Pakistan superpower to rival China and create more headaches for us?

I don't think so, even if they're both Socialist/Communist, they both very much dislike, if not full out hate each other, heck that's
one of the only reason they're both nuclear powers.

Now, if you could early on make it where everyone in the two areas has a common vision of 'Hindustan' then you could, but to get
any sort of Union of the two you need to first get rid of the hatred they have for each other.

How could India turn communist, what with the caste system and whatnot? I mean, it is concievable with sufficient PODs, but still...

agreed, india and pakistan are both democracies and they haven't formed some superstate yet.

Or, have it never develop in the first place.;)

Communist revolutions only happen in countries with massive inequalities. The idea of overthrowing the oppressive upper castes does in fact appeal to the Indian Left. I'm willing to bet if the British refused to leave peacefully, Communism would play a much bigger role in India as it did in other wars of independence.

I don't see Pakistan going Communist however. Muslims and Atheists don't mix very well.

Actally I was thinking of merging India Pakistan, what the Bolsheviks dis with Russia Ukraine Lithuania, East Europe, etc....

Well, like I said, it's not gonna happen unless you can solve the issues the two have with each other.

In the case of the USSR, well it's not really comparable, I mean most of the SSR's were carved out of Russia, with the remainder
having been annexed against their wills.

Given that Pakistan didn't exist until 1947 you simply need an earlier POD to have a unified state.

Maybe if even harsher British imperial repression had kept the middle class nationalists like Gandhi and Jinnah out of the independence movement, or at least a marginalised "liberal" faction within a Communist Party controlled "Indian National Congress".

For Indian communism to be more successful it would have to accommodate to the religions of the region to some extent, but various communist parties are already pretty popular in India spanning from the violent Maoist influenced Naxalites to the moderate reformist CPI, and it's numerous bracketed splinters, between them controlling several state governments and serving in federal coalitions with Congress.

I think maybe if Russian influences had been more dominant within the Indian nationalist movement that British and US.

An unfinished story of mine from years ago had an independent, united socialist India, but that was reliant on the Russian revolution expanding into Germany and France, and no second world war.

The chance of Pakistan becoming communist is about zero point nada, and that goes double for the area that eventually became it.
