Columbine High School - the bombs detonate

Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold's original plan for the Columbine massacre was not to shoot it up, but to plant bombs in the cafeteria that would detonate during lunchtime, killing hundreds of students. In OTL, this failed, due to the fact that their bombs were very poorly made. However, what if the original plan succeeded, turning Columbine into more than just a notorious school shooting, but rather, the deadliest terrorist attack in US history, topping Oklahoma City?

for one, for the next number of years there will be higher security in US schools and random searches with bomb dogs and the such. but what can they really do. if someone wants to plant another bomb, they probably could...

the worst i think would be copycats, who would try and beat the "death tole" record of this bombing...

Considering all of the fringe-lunatic crime that happens in Colorado like Columbine, The Hayman Fire, Head of the New Life Church Ted Haggard and his fondness of Methamphetamines and male prostitutes, the shooting of churchgoers at that same location, The Texas 7 etc... Columbine would be a larger chapter in a book filled with vast exciting tales of criminal history in Colorado.

In all seriousness, various schools around the country similar to CHS would try to enact more profiling measures to supress future incidents as opposed to examining the "have" and "have not" social hierarchy that exists. Opposite of that, a higher national attention would be dedicated toward the dangers of indirect reinforcement stimulating bad behavior towards the "lesser" cliques, so some schools like Columbine would eventually be forced into major campaigns of political correctness and public relations possibly involving a purge of the faculty staff.

Other possibilities... More support of private and home schooling in America by Middle to Upper Class citizens with children in the public school system, more extensive laws on age limits to purchase anything as seemingly harmless like fertilizer or soldering tools. Extreme case scenario: A significant minority of Americans with money gravitate towards Libertarianism which leads to a more popular third-party vote than in OTL.
