Colonial empires IF no WW2

If by some scenario with a POD no earlier than the late 1920s WW2 would have been avoided, how long do you think the European colonial empires could have lasted?

There would have been no Japanese occupation of the East Indies, no weakening of France's prestige and power, no US coming in to rescue the Old World etc.

Would negotiated systems, where India becomes a dominion instead of independent, where French Africa is maintained, where Indonesia becomes a country under the Dutch Crown etc. have been possible?

For the dutch east-indies i expect Java to be an independent country or at least something like a dominion. same for sumatra (although that would probably be in 2 parts as Atjeh would be separate).
I expect them to retain the rest of the east-indies (borneo, celebes, moluccas, new-guinea) first indirectly as colony. later become provinces of the Netherlands or separate entities within the kingdom (like curacao nowadays).(this is based on what ideas were floating around pre WW2 otl)

Same would apply for Suriname, less us influence would mean either becoming a province or an entity within the kingdom.

I think the biggest difference would be in Africa. Without Britain and France being exhausted Physically, Psychologically and Financially then the empires would take longer to begin to withdraw and that withdrawl would be both slower and better planned. Also there would not have been a body of Africans who had fought for the cause of freedom abroad only to find that their own prospects at home were very limited.

The empires might stay around longer, but between racism, colonial mistreatment, poverty, and plain old distance, the empires as they were then were going to fall someday.

That doesn't mean decol will happen as OTL, but places like Vietnam and Angola are definitely going to leave their empires.
