Colonial Empire question

I know that people from all over Europe migrated towards the US and the American colonies, but as far as I know British people usually would migrate just within the British empire.

Question:
1. Did British people ever emigrate to non-British colonies?
2. What would make Briton emigrate to colonies owned by a colonial Empire other than their own. (Specifically, if say, Southern Africa were mostly a colony of another Empire what would determine them to go there?)

Uh, yeah, there was plenty of immigration from the British Isles to Latin America. The Anglo Argentine community is 100,000 strong. One of the main leaders of the Chilean War of Independence was of Irish descent (Bernardo O'Higgins). Rawson was founded and settled by the Welsh. And there are plenty of other examples. People move to where they would perceive to have a better life. So to answer your other question, if the Southern African colony wasn't more politically repressive than the source state and/or had much better economic opportunities, British people, like any other Euros, will move there.

Well a fair number of Jacobites and Irish ended up in France, Spain and by extension their colonies - I assume O'Higgins' ancestors were exiles?

Other than that, there were flexible frontiers so someone emigrating to the Americas might end up in territory not owned by his nation, trading etc
