Collaborative List of US Presidents

The last thread like this has been inactive for a good bit of time, so I feel it is a good opportunity to start anew. For this, we will have four main rules.*

I) There will be a single election (therefore, President) per post.
II) You must go in historical order, meaning you cannot skip foward in time.
III) You must wait at least one post in order to post again.
IV) There may only be one timeline at a time, so that it can stay simple.

*All of these are subject to change at my discretion, based on circumstance or, to be honest, personal fancy.*

I shall start:

Alf Landon / Frank Knox (1936-

1937-1943: Alf Landon / Frank Knox (Republican)
1936: Franklin D. Roosevet / John Nance Garner (Democratic) , Floyd Olson / William Lemke (Union)
1940: Huey Long / Burton K. Wheeler (Democratic)
1943-1945: Alf Landon / vacant (Republican)
1945-1948: Alf Landon / Wendell Willkie (Republican)
1944: unopposed
1948- : Wendell Willkie / vacant (National Union)

Alf Landon is one of the most famous American presidents and was the president during World War 2. The Allies fought against the Axis powers of Nazi Germany, Soviet Union and the Japansse Empire. Alf Landon was elected president in 1936 despite getting less votes then president Roosevelt. The loss of the president was blamed on Floyd Olson who ran on the Union party ticket as part of Huey Long's presidential ambitions though this would only come to light in 1942. Landon mostly continued the New Deal programs that his predecesor started though he didn't go through with the more contreversial bills. After Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland the president held a speech that made clear that the United States would do anything it could to stop Fascism and Communist and help the British Empire, France and Italy in their fight against Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Many historisns think that this speech is the reason he won re-election over Huey Long in the nailbiting close election of 1940 even though the economy wasn't doing that well. After Japanese attacks against Pearl Harbour the Americans would join the Allies in their fight against the Axis. Vice-president Frank Knox died on November 11th and the president wanted another vice-president who worked tirelessly for the war effort and chose Wendell Willkie, a Democrat with close ties to Chiang Kai-Shek America's biggest ally in the East, as a show of National Union during the war. Alf Landon won a third term despite many people telling him not to run. The 1944 election was the only election in which the people didn't vote instead handpicked electors casted their vote for president and vice-president in december 1944. His third term was worse than his second as the war just didn't seem to end. He did get popularity boost after American troops captured Berlin in 1947 but they got stuck in Ukraine during the winter and couldn't make an offensive. On 11 june 1948 the United States dropped nuclear bombs on the Empire of Japan and the Soviet Union. World War 2 was over but millions of Americans died all over Eurasia and President Landon resigned on july 4th. Wendell Willkie was sworn into office.
