Cold War reference books and other materials

I want to write a Cold War Timeline similar to @TastySpam ‘s “The North Star is Red”, only with the POD being the Allies deciding to go for the soft underbelly of Europe instead of OTL D-Day, are there any good books, articles, and threads on this site that would be good research material for late World War 2, Soviet leadership in WW2 and after, and US politics in the early Cold War, along with some good books on post colonial Africa?

This thread was very helpful.

I'm not sure how relevant all of these will be, but here's my research material for Patton in Korea. 'MacArthur's War' in particular is a really excellent read IMO :)

Sources I used for researching Patton in Korea:

Douglas MacArthur: American Warrior - Arthur Herman
Patton: A Genius for War - Carlo D'Este
War As I Knew It - George Patton
The Korean War - Max Hastings
MacArthur's War: Korea and the Undoing of an American Hero - Stanley Weintraub
South to the Naktong, North to the Yalu - Roy E. Appleman https://history.army.mil/books/korea/20-2-1/toc.htm
Reminiscences - Douglas MacArthur
The Coldest Winter: America and the Korean War - David Halberstam
Vietnam - Max Hastings
Eisenhower: The White House Years - Jim Newton
