Cold War divided China: Who gets to keep the UN seat?

At the end of WW2, the Republic of China, alongside the US, the Soviet Union, Great Britain and France were made members of the UN Security Council. The Republic of China War then replaced by its predecessor, the People's Republic of China. But, had the Chinese Civil War ended in a stalemate, with the communists ruling Northern China while the KMT keeping control of Southern China and Taiwan (so basically divided like Korea of Germany), which China (considering both Chinas recognize each other as a soverign country) would have remained in the UN Security Council? Which consequences would this have?

How do you keep it divided though? There's no way the fighting just stops, this isnt exhausted Germany or small and insignificant Korea or post colonial Vietnam, that's a 500 million nation in political transition with everyone armed to the teeth, using a small expeditionary force to stalemate it wouldnt really cut it and not many UN nations would be willing to throw their WW2 exhausted armies into the meatgrinder which consumed a generation of Japanese soldiers only a few years before.

Not in OTL. The Republic of China kept its UN seat and Security Council position until 1971.
