[Colaborative]: Rewriting Europes History (1750-1910))

Pick a country, and write its history!

Don't like the existing nations?

Start a revolution sometime in the time period and build a new nation for the time line!

This is not a 'what if?' thread. It is a thread designed to redraw the map of Europe in any way contributors want, but with a nod to history, demographics and general sense. There are several provisos which must be met however within this framework.

Firstly; Contributors may only pick one nation in Europe at a time to write the history of.

Secondly; You may discuss and suggest edits to other contributors histories, but they must be done from the point of view of your chosen nation. i.e. if you have championed France, but 'Italy' has said they conquered Corsica with XYZ, under leadership ABC at the date 1???, and you don't like that, you need to explain how the French countered that conquest with ZYX, under leadership CBA etc.

Thirdly; More than one person can suggest changes to nation the same nation, so long as the second proviso is met.

Fourthly; 1910 is the end date of this 're-worked' history no events or situations should come after this date, key events may precede 1750 as need be to mitigate ASB events if need be, but events discussed should be in general after this date.

Fifthly; Europe is not isolated from the rest of the world. You may discuss events elsewhere in the world if they add to your nations history.

Sixthly; Have some fun, this is pseudo-serious, but more a game of championing a nation and trying to rewrite its history as you might like it to have been (while at the same time others are trying to do the same thing).

Seventh; If there is any arguments/disagreements I'll arbitrate is you don't mind just to keep flame wars from occurring between dissenting opinion.

----------------------------------------------------------

Additionally there are some challenges;

Caveats:
1. At least Scotland is not part of the United Kingdom and independent (relationship status is up to contributors)

2. The seeds of Communism, Liberalism and Autocracy must still be established in several nations by 1910.

3. Try and throw in a revolution or two.

4. [there may be others]

This should probably be in role-play, but I'm game.

Also, we should probably use a better map; one that's more easily modifiable, like a QBam or a standard Worlda would be good and clear.

Do we have to claim turns/nations? If so, I'd like to claim the Kingdom of France.

You can use any map you want, and if you want to suppliment your post with shaded maps go for it!

It's not a game, so there isn't any turns. Just write away and if somebody else has issue with something you've done they they interject, then you interject and so on so forth until a 'agreeable solution' is met. If one can't be, then I'll arbitrate.

So tell us, what was the history of France...?

Sure, so long as it is broadly in consensus with marxism. Basically so long as we're not getting rid of the philisophical developments of the 19thC then its all good!

Thirdly; More than one person can suggest changes to nation the same nation, so long as the second proviso is met.

I probably will not be able to participate but I have always thought it would be interesting if Communism started as a religious movement instead of explicitly anti-religious.

Maybe you could get an ambitious Pope try to unite the Italian peninsula with it?

Since interest faltered. Let me put up a hypotheical map of the situation of Europe at some time early 1820 or so and let's look at how such a situation might come about...

...and yes Quid Pro Quo you've added that an Italian Pope starts the radical socialist movement (with a fair bit of theocracy thrown in...so much for its roots in 'rationalism and reason' ;))

Red lines intercate national boundaries (colours within represent semi autonomous regions).

I'll take Scotland!

As we are independant I assume that the Act of Union didn't go through the Scottish Parliment.

As such Scotland will get a different King when Queen Anne dies.

Without the 1701 act of Union how have Britian and Scotlands relations been? And how does this relate to Ireland? Are the 'Three Kingdoms' fairly peaceful and co-operative or have then been subjucated and set up as puppet states of England?

You decide. ;)
