Coeur de Leon

Survival of the Lionhearted
On 1199, Richard the Lionhearted did not have his chainmail removed and was able to have himself survive the ordeal of a man trying to kill him.

Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard would be able to choose who will be her successor to the Duchy of Aquitaine, it was said that Richard and Eleanor was told by Philip that he would not want the Duchy of Aquitaine to pass to the King of England again, so they need to make a decision, however, Berengaria is found to be heavily pregnant and it was said that the child that was born would be the heir to Aquitaine and would be a vassal to the throne of France - and also s/he would also be the heir to Navarre if her brother dies without legitimate heirs, she would never have sons.

And according to the treaty is that England and Aquitaine would have separate successions, the Duchy of Aquitaine would be given to a separate person from the King of England, Eleanor of Brittany and Louis, the son of Philippe Auguste were married to bind the treaty.

On 1202 a child was born as a girl, she is named after her Grandmother Eleanor, she is named as Eleanor of Bordeaux and betrothed to another grandson of Eleanor of Aquitaine, namely Theobald of Champagne(b. 1200), this would create a possible union between the rival houses of Blois and Angevin, Berengaria would not give birth again to another child.

Eleanor of Bordeaux, the daughter of Richard the Lionhearted was made the heiress to the Duchies Aquitaine, Gascony and Poitou while Arthur I of Brittany is the heir to Anjou, Normandy and England.

note: Theobald of Champagne is the son of Blanche of Navarre and Theobald III of Champagne, Theobald and Eleanor are cousins via Eleanor of Aquitaine.

I am planning for Richard to survive till 1220 and after Richard and Sancho die their niece and nephew inherit Aquitaine and Navarre uniting them under the Blois Dynasty.

I'll be honest an say that although Richard is definitely his mothers son, and is french through and through, I do not htink he would give much of a crap as to what Phillip thinks., If anything, Richard would probably use the English soldiers to keep Aquitaine. He would damn well try hard, and he is a much better fighter than John was.

His successor would inherit Aquitaine not England and inherit Navarre as well..Theobald would not try to question Arthur's claim to England.
