The studfarm of Europe supplied their Princess Juliane to Russia " as ancient Athens supplied Crete with maids for the minotaur" in the mid-1790s. She was married to Tsetsarevich Konstantin Pavlovich in 1796. The marriage was unhappy and they separated in 1799, with Juliane (now Grand Duchess Anna Feodorovna) departing for her native Germany in 1801. Here, she had two bastard kids in 1808 and 1812.
