What if the gap had been closed in a timely fashion and the german troops are for the most part captured? What happens on the west front and does the war shorten?

The deliberated 24hr dwadling allowed up to 100,000 men to escape, including the remnants of two SS-division that later defeated the 6th british-AB at Arnhem.

Yeah, I've read about that. I'm just checking that we aren't closing the gap any earlier.

I'm just checking that we aren't closing the gap any earlier.

You mean: Checking why we aren't closing the gap any earlier?

The answer to that is lack of initiative and overcaution or as I prefer to call it: dwadling!

No, checking that. I've often seen 24 hours quoted. I just wanted to make sure that was the time-frame the original poster was going with.

As in, are we closing the pocket 24 hours before OTL, or earlier still?

Sorry for the lack of clarity.

If it had been closed earlier, I doubt if it would have had a major effect on the
war other than Paris gets taken over a month earlier. For that to happen, the
Allies would have had to have their troops in position much earlier.
