Clinton backs Croatia only

What if during the Bosinian war in the early 1990's the US decides to only back the Croatians? Thoughts much appericated and sorry if this has been brought up before.

Not going to happen. The 2 competing pressures that Clinton had to contend with were staying out to avoid a potential quagmire and doing "something" to help the Muslims. Getting involved while letting Bosnia hang out to dry carries the bad consequences of both policies, and that's before the news starts coming in of Tudjman taking his turn at the Muslims, at which point the US has not only failed to prevent the most publicized humanitaian disaster of the time but actually aided it.

And if you can explain to me why Clinton would possibly want to do anything like that, there's also the small detail of most people in Washington overestimating the military abilities of the Serbs ("The Nazis failed to subdue them, it will be Vietnam all over again.") and underestimating those of the Croats ("They lost 1/3 of their country to the Serbs, what are they good at?").

It was my understanding that at the time many in Europe wanted us to back the Croats alone. I am also trying to see if what Samuel P. Huntington wrote was true in his clash of civilizations book, this is were I am getting this from.

Germany and Austria and possibly others. Meanwhile, the British and French were vacillating between an objectively pro-Serb position ("They're going to win anyway, let's not burn our bridges with them.") and Clintonianism ("We're going to put a stop to the rape of Bosnia, but don't ask us how."). Assuming that the US allows other countries to determine its foreign policy, which it doesn't, why side with Berlin against London and Paris?

Well why didn't you say so? No, it isn't. For further explanation, see everything else I've written in this thread. And if it was true, a counterfactual wouldn't prove it any more than a certain infamous thread on this site proved that Enoch Powell would've made a great British PM. Fiction does not prove the world-view behind it.
