Clint Eastwood Runs as a Libertarian

I wonder what would happen if Clint Eastwood ran for President as a Libertarian?

At my college's Libertarian club a few years back, we were talking and concluded that was a really good idea.

The question is: at what time would he run?

I'd considered having him run as a Republican, and came to the conclusion that his best chances would be between 1988 and 1992. At that point he had the full benefit of his "Dirty Harry" image, which would attract a law-and-order electorate, while having demonstrated to some extent his libertarian credentials as mayor of Carmel, Ca. After 1992, his macho image began to fade, due to his deliberate deconstruction of it, and would no longer be politically exploitable.

But it would be cool by having the two Presidential candidates, deciding who gets the top job, by having a gunfight on the steps of Congress...

Hendryk: Im impressed with your analyzation of Clint Eastwood.
Im more impressed that you knew he was mayor of Carmel, where I live. Too bad he still isnt mayor, the current one sucks.
