Cleveland's third term, 1896

Ah alright, a logical course of action. I'll have to read this book Dark Horse, as most of my reading over the years has said that the reputation of Grantism was at least equal in killing his chances.

Anyway on the subject of Cleveland, personally I wouldn't ever consider his third term chances high. I should have been clearer myself, fixing the economy with a gold find still doesn't make his chances at the nomination or the general election high, but I would say it would be absolutely necessary if you were going to go that direction. But even then I would say that Clevelands odds are lower then low.

Not only is there the rightfully large issue of the third term, but there is also the example of what happened to the National Democrats who ran just to continue Cleveland's policies. >1% of the National Vote against McKinley and Bryan is not a good sign, and shows how big Cleveland's economic failures had played out with the nation.

This reminds me, I ought at some point get back to trying for the upteeth time to write my own 1896 Election/Bryan Wins Timeline...
