Cleveland isn't nominated in 1884

I was doing research for a possible timeline in the 1880s, and realized that the Halpin scandal with Grover Cleveland( he was found to have fathered a child out of wedlock) happened only eleven days after he was nominated. Although it didn't sink his bid for the presidency as he had time to recover, what might have happened if it had been released shortly before the convention? The immediate disgrace would probably be enough to prevent him from being nominated( especially as his reputation was that of "Grover the Good")? Who would the Democrats have nominated and could they have won against Blaine?

I would say Bayer or Tilden will probably win the nomination, although its really anyone's game. As for Blaire, the Democrats probably still win, but with a closer margin.
